“This series does not aim to illustrate a specific concept, but rather seeks to register states of presence—calm, inward, and suspended moments that reveal themselves through subtle variation.”
“Variations of Stillness“ is a series of small watercolor works built around the repetition of a single, simple form. The central oval functions as the core motif, appearing in a new condition each time—sometimes clear and luminous, sometimes blurred and unstable, and sometimes hovering between visibility and disappearance.
In this body of work, change emerges not through movement or narrative, but from within stillness itself. Variations are formed through shifts in color, light, and the relationship between form and ground. The horizon line operates as a recurring, quiet element, providing a shared structure that holds these differences together and creates a sense of visual and emotional stability.
Working with watercolor on Rospina paper allows the pigments to remain fluid, layered, and unresolved. Stains, soft edges, and the texture of the paper become part of the visual language, reinforcing the sense of transience and fragility.
Rather than illustrating a fixed concept, this series seeks to register states of presence—calm, inward, and suspended moments that reveal themselves through subtle variation.
